A reliable German hybrid that consistently delivers high grain yields with minimal protection costs.
Description
Stable yields in challenging conditions
Working with the KWS Burito hybrid from the German brand KWS, I value predictability above all else. This dent-type corn, designed for grain production, performs like a true "German" — reliable and without surprises. Over a 140–160 day vegetation period, it manages to form a full-fledged ear, which pleases with low grain moisture at harvest time. This is critical, as saving on drying costs is the primary driver of profitability in today's market.
Agronomic advantages
As for the phytosanitary status, KWS has not disappointed. In the field, there is virtually no sign of common smut or fusarium, which are usually a headache on heavy soils. Resistance to helminthosporiosis is also top-notch: even in years with high humidity, the leaves remain "clean" until the end of the season.
Cultivation nuances
- Planting density: Depending on soil fertility and moisture availability, I use two strategies. In fields with moisture deficits, I stick to 45,000–50,000 plants per hectare to avoid competition for water. Under irrigation or on high-quality chernozems, I confidently aim for 70,000–75,000 plants per hectare — the hybrid responds excellently to a high-input environment.
- Grain output: The dent-type grain ensures excellent ear filling. Threshing is clean, and losses during combine calibration are minimal, which confirms the quality of the breeding work.
KWS Burito is the choice for the farmer who doesn't like to take risks and bets on proven German technology. Minimal attention required for disease control, maximum return on the scale — this is exactly the balance needed for confident farm management.
