A stable dual-purpose hybrid with high resistance to major diseases and pests.
Description
Practical Field Performance of the Odeskyi 385 MV Hybrid
When selecting seed material for operations focused on dual-purpose harvest, this three-line hybrid demonstrates predictable growth dynamics. With a maturity cycle of 110–120 days, it allows for precise harvest scheduling, avoiding peak stress on farm machinery.
Agronomic Management and Planting Density
Developed by the Selection and Genetics Institute, this hybrid shows significant plasticity depending on farming intensity. We recommend adjusting the plant population at harvest time based on soil moisture availability:
- 32,000–35,000 plants/ha: for moisture-limited environments.
- 38,000–40,000 plants/ha: standard density for optimal development.
- 42,000–50,000 plants/ha: under irrigation for maximum silage or grain yield.
Biological Reliability
The primary advantage of this hybrid is its natural resistance to pests and diseases. By reducing the need for additional fungicide treatments against loose and stalk smut, operational costs per ton of product are significantly lower. Its resilience against the European corn borer simplifies field monitoring, minimizing losses due to lodging and cob damage, which facilitates easier header operation during threshing.
Operational Efficiency
The versatility of using this hybrid for both grain and silage provides a safety net for livestock operations. It ensures a balanced feed supply if weather delays grain harvest, or produces high-quality marketable grain under favorable conditions. Consistent vegetative biomass development ensures uniform silage pit filling, which is critical for high-quality silage fermentation.
