Janus

The hybrid corn Janus is a medium-early three-line hybrid with a vegetation period of approximately 121 days and FAO 240, registered in the State Register for the Central Chernozem region for grain and silage production. Plants are tall, reaching 270-310 cm in height, with ears attached at 100-130 cm. The ear is long, thick, and slightly conical, containing 12-14 rows of kernels, with 32-42 kernels per row. Kernel type is intermediate, with yellow upper part and yellow-orange lower part, and 1000-kernel weight of 280-310 g. Janus exhibits rapid early growth and high cold tolerance, making it suitable for early planting. Plants have broad leaves with a small angle between leaf blade and stem, and anthocyanin pigmentation of various plant parts from weak to medium intensity. Grain yield in the region averages 72.8 centners per hectare, 38.7% higher than the standard, with maximum yields up to 122 centners per hectare. Grain moisture at harvest is about 29.5%, dry matter content is 41.8%, exceeding standard values. The hybrid Janus has high yield potential — up to 140 centners per hectare of grain and 700 centners per hectare of green mass. Recommended planting density varies depending on conditions: 75-85 thousand plants per hectare under favorable conditions and 55-65 thousand under adverse conditions. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, the hybrid is suitable for cultivation in various agroclimatic zones, ensuring stable and high yields of grain and silage.
