Description
Timiryazevskaya Single Seed fodder beet is a variety with a bag-shaped root shape, widely used in agriculture due to its high yield and adaptability. This variety requires fertile soils with a deep arable layer for optimal growth. The vegetation period is from 125 to 150 days, which is significantly shorter compared to sugar beet. Seeds begin to germinate at temperatures from 2 to 5 degrees Celsius, and viable seedlings appear at 6–7 degrees, which allows for successful cultivation of the crop under various climatic conditions.
Timiryazevskaya Single Seed fodder beet is used primarily in silage type of animal feeding. It contains from 9 to 13% dry matter, is characterized by low protein content, high potassium level (0.3–0.5%) and a small amount of calcium and phosphorus. Due to the predominance of alkaline mineral elements, the beet promotes neutralization of acids in silage, which improves feed quality. The digestibility of one kilogram of roots is 0.10–0.12 feed units, and the yield reaches 40–60 tons per hectare.
In addition to feed properties, the beet is known for its useful qualities and pleasant sweet taste. The root contains fiber, glucose, sucrose, fructose, polysaccharides, pectins and various acids, which makes it not only nutritious but also beneficial for health. Timiryazevskaya Single Seed fodder beet does not require complex agrotechnical methods, and the harvested crop has good storability. For animal feeding, it is recommended to grind the roots and observe feeding norms, as well as consider storage temperature conditions.
