Description
Donetsk Large-fruited currant is an early-ripening variety, maturing in the second half of June. This variety is characterized by high yield, reaching up to 80 centners per hectare, and large berries weighing from 4.2 to 10 grams. The berries have an oval shape, light green color, and are attached to fleshy stems. The flesh is juicy, slightly sour-sweet, with a pleasant taste, although it becomes mealy and bland when overripe. The berries do not drop off during ripening, facilitating harvest and improving its quality. The bush is medium-sized, slightly spreading, with strong branches covered in strong, sickle-shaped thorns, and the lower parts of replacement shoots are densely covered with small thorns. The leaves are large, matte, light green. The plant is highly cold-resistant and drought-tolerant, allowing successful cultivation in various climatic conditions. The variety is not picky about soils, preferring fertile and loose substrates, as well as sunny locations for optimal growth and fruiting. Donetsk Large-fruited currant is resistant to fungal diseases, significantly reducing the need for frequent application of protective agents and simplifying plant care. Due to its characteristics, this variety is suitable for both home gardens and commercial production. The high quality and attractive appearance of the berries make this currant popular among gardeners and consumers.
