Description
MCVANE KHETI is a Georgian technical grape variety with a medium ripening period, characterized by a duration from bud break to full berry maturity of about 160 days with a sum of active temperatures of 3000°-3200°C. Bushes have medium growth vigor, and leaves are of medium size, round or slightly oval, often five-lobed, sometimes three-lobed, dark green in color with a matte surface and a net-creased texture. The underside of leaves is covered with medium-density web-like pubescence. Flowers are perfect, which contributes to good shoot maturation. Bunches are medium-sized, wide-conical or cylindro-conical, of medium density, sometimes loose. Berries are oval, yellowish-green with a thin skin and abundant waxy bloom, juicy flesh with a pleasant taste and characteristic varietal aroma. The MCVANE KHETI variety has relative resistance to phylloxera but is susceptible to downy mildew and powdery mildew. It does not differ in drought resistance but withstands winter frosts down to -22°C well. These features make it suitable for growing in the climatic conditions of Kakheti and other regions with similar parameters. Due to its agronomic characteristics and berry quality, the grape is widely used for producing high-quality table wines, both of the Kakhetian and European types. MCVANE KHETI grape is valued for its high quality and good taste properties, making it a popular choice for winemaking. It is part of various known Georgian wine varieties, such as Alazani Valley, Vazisubani, Gurjaani, Tsindali, and others. Thanks to its unique organoleptic characteristics, this variety contributes to the creation of wines with a rich aroma and pleasant taste, confirming its significance in Georgian wine culture.
