Description
The "Dallas" variety is an early-maturing rocket with a period from full germination to the beginning of commercial maturity of 22 days. The plant reaches a height of 15 cm, the mass of one plant is 29 g, and the diameter of the leaf rosette is 6 cm. The leaves are of medium size, dark green in color, smooth surface, and possess a spicy-aromatic mustard-nut-peppery taste, making them ideal for fresh salads and spicy side dishes to meat and fish dishes.
The yield of greens is 1.2 kg/m² with a single harvest. To achieve maximum taste, sufficient moisture levels must be maintained: lack of moisture leads to coarseness of leaves and intensification of the mustard aftertaste. The plant prefers light fertile soils with a neutral or slightly acidic reaction; in acidic soils, liming is required.
"Dallas" seeds are packed in 0.5 g packets and remain viable until 2027. Sowing is done in open ground from April to mid-August, sowing depth not more than 1–1.5 cm, distance between rows — 30–40 cm. After germination, plants are thinned at the stage of 1–2 true leaves, leaving 5–6 cm between them. Regular harvesting allows obtaining tender greens without loss of taste qualities.
