ALEYN

ALEYN salad is a Holland-grown mini romaine variety from Rijk Zwaan, bred for year-round cultivation in open and closed ground, as well as in hydroponics. The plant forms a compact semi-open head with leaves of dark red color, smoothly transitioning to a green shade. The weight of the marketable rosette is about 100 grams, which makes this salad convenient for sale both individually and as part of salad mixtures. The seeds are coated and packaged in packs of 1,000 and 5,000 pieces, which ensures easy sowing and high germination.

The variety is distinguished by an early maturity period with a vegetative period of 40 to 60 days. It is resistant to bolting and has high resistance to a number of diseases, including fusarium, as well as viruses and fungal infections, confirmed by the presence of HR and IR resistance gene markers. The yield reaches 5-6 kg per square meter with proper agronomy. For cultivation, it is recommended to use a light, water- and air-permeable substrate with a neutral or slightly acidic reaction (pH 6.0–6.5), as well as observe optimal irrigation and fertilization regimes.

When growing ALEYN salad, it is important to consider possible diseases and pests, such as root rots, gray and white mold, bacterial infections, powdery mildew, downy mildew, and other fungal diseases.
