ASMA RA

The Asmara salad represents an Iceberg-type variety intended for summer growing, but due to its high resistance to stress conditions such as heat and drought, it can also be grown in other seasons. Plants form large, slightly flat-topped green heads with a smooth surface and a loose internal structure. The head mass ranges from 450 to 600 grams, making it convenient for processing and packaging in film. The lettuce leaves are light, tender, and crisp, which is ideal for fresh consumption and preparing salad mixes.

The Asmara variety is distinguished by its early maturity and high yield, reaching 5.4–6.1 kg per square meter. It exhibits high resistance to bolting, flowering, and the development of necroses, ensuring prolonged preservation of market appearance and product quality. Thanks to these characteristics, the salad withstands hot and dry conditions well, making it an optimal choice for open-field cultivation during the summer period.

Growing Asmara salad is recommended via seedling method: seeds are sown in trays and kept in cool conditions until germination, after which regular irrigation is conducted, avoiding wetting young seedlings. Such agronomic techniques promote the formation of healthy plants and high-quality harvest. Asmara salad is suitable for both home growing and commercial production, thanks to its versatility and resilience to adverse factors.
