Diurnas

Diurnas lettuce is an early head type iceberg variety developed by the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan. This variety features light green leaves and forms round, compact heads with bubbly, slightly wavy edges. The maturation period is 50-60 days, allowing harvest within two months after transplanting seedlings to their permanent location. Diurnas lettuce has high yield and marketability, as well as good transportability, making it popular for both fresh market and processing.

Diurnas is well-adapted to various climatic conditions, including temperature fluctuations in spring and light frosts down to -5 degrees Celsius. However, the variety is less resistant to dry climates and requires regular watering and quality soil for full development. Seeds germinate well at +16-17 degrees Celsius, and crop care includes timely weed removal and fertilization. The variety also has immunity to internal necrosis, lettuce aphid, and false powdery mildew, promoting steady and healthy growth.

The leaves of Diurnas lettuce have excellent flavor and are widely used in vegetable salads, appetizers, and dish garnishes. Heads may vary in size, but they maintain a firm texture and attractive market appearance. Thanks to its resistance to transportation, the lettuce retains freshness and presentation during long-distance transport, making it convenient for commercial cultivation and sale.
