Description
Eduardo lettuce is a new fast-growing iceberg type developed by Dutch breeders from Enza Zaden. This early variety reaches technical maturity in approximately 50-60 days after transplanting seedlings. The plant forms medium to large, round heads with a dense structure and a slight flat indentation, weighing about 505-540 grams. The leaves are large, slightly wavy-edged with prominent veins, crisp in texture and pleasant in taste, making them ideal for fresh salads and garnishing dishes.
Eduardo lettuce is highly adaptable to various growing conditions. It grows well both in open ground and under cover, enabling year-round harvests. It thrives especially on sandy and light loamy soils, expanding its cultivation potential across different climate zones, including northern regions in spring, summer, and autumn. For early harvests, seedlings are recommended, though direct sowing is also possible.
One of the key features of this variety is its high resistance to bolting and internal necrosis, ensuring stable yields and product quality. Eduardo lettuce has a strong immune system, retains well on the root, and exhibits excellent transportability without losing its appearance. These qualities make it popular for both fresh markets and processing, including organic farming.
