Description
The Eduardo Salad represents a new fast-growing head lettuce type of Iceberg, developed by Dutch breeders from the company Enza Zaden. This variety is distinguished by an early maturity period — it takes about two months from seedling planting to technical maturity. The plant adapts well to various growing conditions, including open beds and covers, which allows for harvesting throughout the year. For early harvest, it is recommended to plant seedlings in the ground, although direct sowing is also possible.
The heads of Eduardo lettuce have a round, slightly flattened shape with tightly attached covering leaves. Head size varies from medium to large, weighing approximately 505-540 grams. Leaves are large, slightly wavy at the edges with prominent veins, possessing a dense structure and crunchy texture. Thanks to density and covering leaves, heads are well preserved on the root and transported without loss of appearance. The taste of leaves is pleasant, making this salad an excellent choice for preparing fresh salads and garnishing dishes.
The Eduardo variety is characterized by high plasticity and resistance to various climatic conditions, allowing it to be grown on sandy and light loamy soils. It shows high resistance to bolting and internal necrosis, which significantly increases yield efficiency and stability. These qualities make the Eduardo salad attractive to gardeners and farmers seeking to obtain a quality and tasty product under different conditions.
