Galander

Galander salad is a medium-early variety of romaine lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. longifolia), distinguished by its crisp, juicy leaves with a mild nutty flavor. This variety forms medium-density, elliptical heads with a vibrant green color, giving it an attractive appearance and high market quality. Due to its adaptability and rapid growth, Galander is resistant to bolting and cracking, ensuring a neat and aesthetically pleasing harvest.

Galander is well-suited for open-field cultivation, preferring fertile, well-drained, moisture-retentive soils with neutral pH (6-6.8), such as sandy or loamy soils. This variety is highly light-loving and moisture-demanding, requiring optimal conditions for watering and lighting. For early harvest, it is recommended to grow it as seedlings, sowing seeds in greenhouses in April-May. The planting scheme is 30 cm x 30 cm, promoting good plant development.

The maturation period for Galander lettuce is 65-75 days after sowing. Its leaves possess excellent flavor, making the salad widely used fresh for salads, sandwiches, and appetizers, and also suitable for preservation. This variety is an excellent base for classic Caesar salad and beautifully complements various dishes, adding freshness and a crisp texture.
