Glendana

Glendana salad (Glendana) is a medium-maturing iceberg lettuce type variety developed by the Dutch company Enza Zaden. This variety forms a dense, round head weighing about 1 kg, visually resembling white cabbage but distinguished by more elegant light green leaves with a whitish coating. The leaves are tender, crisp, and have a refreshing flavor, making it ideal for fresh consumption and diverse salad preparations. Glendana exhibits high resistance to adverse conditions, including heat, bolting, and leaf edge burn. The variety is adapted for cultivation in open ground, preferring fertile, well-watered soils and open, wind-free sites. Regular watering, soil loosening, and fertilization are necessary to achieve good yields. Due to its stress tolerance and disease resistance, the lettuce tolerates various climatic conditions, including cool climates. Glendana is characterized by high yield—up to 35 tons per hectare, excellent marketability, and transportability, making it popular both for fresh markets and processing.
