Description
Lalique lettuce (Lalique) is a leafy iceberg-type lettuce variety developed by Rijk Zwaan breeders for high-yield cultivation in both open and protected ground. This medium-maturing variety is suitable for year-round cultivation and shows good adaptability to various weather conditions, including hot weather. The plant forms an open, fairly large rosette weighing around 500 grams, with small, finely cut leaves of deep green color that have a pleasant sweet taste and retain their nutritional properties even after thermal processing.
Lalique lettuce is highly resistant to various adverse factors, such as curling, bolting, fruit cracking, as well as lettuce aphids and false powdery mildew. Thanks to these qualities, the variety has a prolonged harvest period and excellent transportability, making it popular both in fresh vegetable markets and for processing. The leaf rosette is compact and dense, ensuring high head quality from compact to medium-sized.
This variety is versatile in application: it is suitable for cultivation on various soil types, as well as hydroponics and modern urban conditions such as "green factories" and city farms. Lalique lettuce leaves are ideal for use in restaurants and fast-food chains, as they maintain their flavor and texture even when used in hot dishes or with acidic sauces. Sowing is recommended at a depth of 1-1.5 cm from mid-March to mid-August, with a planting density of 10-12 plants per square meter.
