Lollo Rosso

The Lollo Rosso salad is an early-maturing leafy variety with high yield indicators and excellent taste qualities. The plant forms a loose rosette with large, ruffled, and decorative green leaves that are distinguished by their crisp texture and superior flavor. The vegetative period is about 40-45 days, allowing for harvest collection in early terms after seedling emergence. The rosette height reaches 20-25 cm, while the diameter varies from 15 to 30 cm, with the mass of one head ranging from 190 to 320 grams. The variety is resistant to bolting and has good transportability, making it in demand in the fresh vegetable market.

Lollo Rosso is undemanding in care and highly adaptable to various growing conditions. It can be successfully cultivated in open ground, as well as in greenhouses or on hydroponic systems. The plant is cold-hardy and capable of withstanding frosts down to -5°C, allowing for planting at the beginning of spring. For optimal growth, the salad prefers neutral or slightly acidic fertilized soils, as well as a moderate climate. In terms of care, regular watering while avoiding water contact with leaves, soil loosening, weeding, and thinning seedlings to ensure sufficient space between plants are important.

To obtain a stable and prolonged harvest, it is recommended to sow seeds with an interval of 10-15 days. Application of organic and mineral fertilizers, as well as soil preparation with autumn plowing and liming of acidic soils, contribute to improved quality and quantity of greens.
