NORDIS

The Nordis salad represents a new mid-season leaf type Iceberg variety, developed for cultivation in protected environments, including via recirculating hydroponics. This variety is ideal for year-round production in greenhouses and polytunnels. The plant features an erect form, with a height of approximately 20 cm and a diameter of up to 35 cm, with a leaf mass of about 90 grams. The leaves have an elongated-elliptic shape, a rich green color without anthocyanin, and characteristic deep lace-like cuts along the edge, giving the salad an attractive appearance. The leaf texture is dense and crisp, while the taste is juicy and highly rated, making Nordis a popular choice for the restaurant business and a staple for vegetable salads.

One of the key features of the variety is its high resistance to various diseases, including downy mildew, curly dwarf virus, and lettuce mosaic virus. Furthermore, Nordis demonstrates resistance to physiological disorders such as leaf marginal burn, and is capable of withstanding high temperatures, which prevents bolting and maintains the plant's marketable appearance. The absence of a hypocotyl significantly reduces stem brittleness, facilitating harvesting, packaging, and transportation of the produce.

Salad Nordis boasts high yield – up to 2.0 kg per square meter, making it profitable for producers. Thanks to its resistance and quality characteristics, this variety is a reliable and easy-to-grow option for those who value stability and product quality in protected environments and hydroponics.
