Description
Red-leaf Summer is a mid-season lettuce variety with a vegetative period of 50-60 days. Young, tender leaves are used for consumption before the formation of a flowering stalk. The plants are characterized by vigorous growth and resistance to rotting, ensuring high-quality harvest. The variety is suitable for spring and autumn sowing, and sparse sowing promotes the formation of dense heads. To obtain early produce, it is recommended to grow lettuce under film cover.
Agrotechnology of cultivation involves sowing in furrows 1.0-1.5 cm deep at a rate of 3-4 g of seeds per 10 m². The optimal distance between plants in a row is 25-30 cm, and between rows is 25 cm. The lettuce is cold-hardy and can grow at temperatures from +5°C, although the most comfortable temperature regime for it is 15-20°C. Irrigation should be carried out with a norm of 17-20 liters of water per m² per week, preferably in the morning, so that the leaves have time to dry by evening, reducing the risk of disease development.
Red-leaf summer lettuce is distinguished not only by high yield, but also by ease of cultivation due to its resistance to unfavorable conditions and diseases. Its tender leaves are ideal for fresh salads and other culinary dishes, and the possibility of growing in different seasons makes this variety a universal choice for gardeners.
