Thurinus

Thurinus lettuce is an early hybrid leaf lettuce of the Romaine type, developed by Rijk Zwaan from the Netherlands. This variety is characterized by strong growth energy and high yield, making it attractive for cultivation both in open ground and using hydroponic systems. The vegetative period is approximately 20-30 days from the emergence of seedlings, enabling quick harvest of fresh greens. The hybrid is undemanding in terms of cultivation and care, well-adapted to various climatic conditions, and resistant to common diseases such as downy mildew, lettuce aphid, as well as leaf tip burn and edge scorch.

The plant forms a dense, lush rosette of medium-sized leaves, weighing 200 to 500 grams depending on growing conditions. Leaves are elongated with wavy edges, smooth and glossy surface. Outer leaf color is dark burgundy or red-pomegranate, while inner surface is green, giving the lettuce an attractive appearance. Leaf blade is thick and crisp, ensuring excellent taste qualities. Due to these characteristics, Thurinus lettuce is ideal for use in salad mixes and as a garnish.
