Tombelo

Tombelo lettuce is an early semi-heading Butterhead type variety developed by the Dutch seed company Rijk Zwaan. This succulent lettuce features compact, full rosettes of bright green leaves with a smooth, glossy surface. The leaves are moderately thick, oval with slight undulations, and have a mild, pleasant flavor without bitterness. A single plant can weigh up to 500 grams, making this variety attractive for commercial cultivation and use in fresh salads and processing. The lettuce contains significant amounts of vitamins A and C, as well as beneficial minerals, enhancing its nutritional value.

Tombelo is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in polytunnels, allowing harvest from early spring until mid-autumn. The variety exhibits high resistance to bolting, powdery mildew, necrosis, pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and insects, as well as good tolerance to adverse weather conditions. Thanks to these qualities, the lettuce is well-suited for organic farming and demonstrates stable productivity under various climatic conditions.

For successful cultivation, choose warmed, well-lit areas with fertile soil, ensure regular moderate watering, soil loosening, and weed control. The vegetative period lasts approximately 40-45 days, enabling rapid harvest of fresh produce.
