Tudela

Tudela (Tudela) lettuce is an early leaf lettuce variety of Romaine type, developed by the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan. This variety is characterized by high productivity and resistance to downy mildew and lettuce aphids, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in open ground from mid-spring to autumn. The vegetative period is approximately 55-60 days, allowing for multiple harvests. It is recommended to thin out seedlings regularly and water frequently, especially during hot periods, and to loosen the soil and remove weeds after watering to increase yield.

The Tudela lettuce rosette is compact and raised, with leaves of deep green color, crisp, juicy, slightly curly, and with a blistered structure. The head is large and dense, weighing from 650 to 800 grams. The taste qualities are excellent, with a mild, slightly spicy flavor, making this variety ideal for fresh dishes, processing, and marketing. Due to its late bolting, the variety is suitable for multiple sowings, and for early harvests, it is recommended to grow it as seedlings.

Tudela lettuce has high nutritional value: leaves contain lactucin glycoside and a large amount of vitamin E, which helps increase hemoglobin levels, calms the nervous system, and improves vision. Additionally, leaf juice is effective in treating gastritis and peptic ulcers. Lettuce is beneficial in cases of anemia, obesity, diabetes, and hypertension. Besides cultivation in open ground, this variety successfully grows using hydroponics in enclosed spaces, expanding its usability under various conditions.
