Description
Vaidosa lettuce is an ultra-early leaf lettuce type Batavia, developed by the Dutch company Enza Zaden. This hybrid is characterized by its rapid maturity — from sowing to forming a large rosette takes about 40 days. The lettuce is suitable for cultivation both in open ground from early spring to autumn and in greenhouses year-round. It is well-adapted to various climatic conditions and capable of producing a quick harvest, enabling fresh produce throughout the season.
The plant forms a dense and uniform leafy cover with a soft green or bright green hue; the leaves are juicy and crisp. The variety is resistant to bolting, leaf burn, and many diseases, including internal necrosis. Thanks to these qualities and its ability to maintain marketable appearance for more than 10 days, Vaidosa lettuce is ideal for long-term transportation and storage. After harvest, the above-ground part can regrow, increasing overall yield.
For successful cultivation, use soils with neutral to slightly alkaline reaction (pH 7.0–7.5), avoiding acidic soils. Seeds germinate at +5°C, but for rapid growth, an optimal temperature of around +15°C is recommended. Main care includes timely watering, soil loosening, weed removal, and monthly feeding. Vaidosa lettuce tolerates hot weather well if soil moisture is maintained, which helps preserve its juiciness and freshness.
