Xamena / Ksamena

Xamena (Ksamena) lettuce is a head type Romaine variety developed by the Dutch seed company Enza Zaden. This hybrid features a massive elongated rosette with a dense structure, reaching up to 1.5 kg in weight and about 20 cm in height. The lettuce leaves are green with a yellow core, have a wavy and blistered surface, giving them a juicy texture and pleasant taste. The variety is intended for fresh consumption and is widely used in culinary applications, as well as in salad mixes.

Ksamena is adapted for cultivation both in open ground and in greenhouses, allowing for a stable harvest throughout the year. In open ground, the crop is grown from mid-spring to early autumn, with technical maturity reached 50-60 days after transplanting seedlings. The variety exhibits high resistance to climatic fluctuations and stress, and is not demanding in soil quality, which simplifies agronomy. Main care includes timely watering, soil loosening, weed removal, and fertilization, carried out approximately once a month.

Xamena lettuce is immune to diseases such as powdery mildew, downy mildew, and anthracnose, and is resistant to bolting and leaf burn. The yield of this variety reaches 27 tons per hectare. Additionally, the lettuce tolerates transportation well, maintaining its appearance and flavor qualities during long-term storage, making it attractive for the fresh vegetable market.
