Bluebird

Variable alfalfa variety BLUEBIRD® is a high-yieldage fodder crop widely used in agriculture to provide animals with nutrients. This variety is distinguished by stable development, good seed quality, and adaptation to various climatic conditions. Plants have a semi-erect bush type with a height of 97-110 cm, light green leaf color, and medium length of the central leaflet. Flowers are predominantly blue-violet, giving the variety a characteristic appearance. Seeds are light yellow and dark brown, bean-like and kidney-shaped, contained in spirally twisted pods with 4-7 seeds.

The BLUEBIRD® variety is characterized by a medium start of flowering and a vegetative period of 96 to 110 days to full seed maturity, and 62-71 days to the first mowing. The root system is powerful and deeply located, which contributes to improving soil structure, increasing its water and air permeability, and accumulating humus. Stems are rounded, medium roughness, with 16-18 internodes, which ensures good plant stability. Alfalfa is resistant to a complex of diseases, which makes it a reliable crop for cultivation.

In addition to its fodder purpose, BLUEBIRD® alfalfa plays an important role in agronomy due to its symbiosis with nitrogen-fixing bacteria. This allows accumulating a significant amount of nitrogen in the soil, which improves its fertility and reduces the need for mineral fertilizers. Alfalfa biomass after decomposition becomes easily digestible fertilizer, enriching the soil with nutrients and improving its structure. Also, the crop contributes to reducing soil acidity, cleaning fields of weeds, and improving conditions for soil microorganisms, which overall increases yield and the health of agricultural lands.
