Description
Alfalfa variety Tatyana is a yellow variety of perennial herbaceous plant from the legume family intended for feed purposes. The medium-height plant with semi-erect bushes and dark green leaves shows high resistance to Verticillium wilt. The yield of green mass of this variety exceeds the standard Kuban yellow variety by 26-29%, reaching 441-505 centners per hectare. The variety is recommended for use as green mass, hay, as well as for creating and improving hay meadows and pastures.
Alfalfa Tatyana has high feed value: one kilogram of hay contains 0.48 feed units and 102 grams of protein. The leaves of the plant are rich in proteins (about 20%), vitamins A, C, PP, E, as well as calcium and phosphorus. Due to these properties, alfalfa is a valuable feed, equated in nutritional value to oats. In addition, alfalfa serves as an excellent predecessor for many garden crops, enriching the soil with nitrogen and organic matter, while the dense grass cover helps suppress weeds. The plant is characterized by high drought tolerance and frost hardiness, which facilitates care and cultivation.
Sowing of alfalfa Tatyana is recommended in open ground in early spring with a sowing rate of 15-20 kg per hectare. Seed burial depth depends on soil moisture and is 2-3 cm in moist soil and 3-4 cm in dry soil. Green mass yield can reach 450-750 centners per hectare, and hay - 80-150 centners, up to 300 centners with irrigation. Seeds are harvested in the second year of growth. In addition to feed purposes, alfalfa is a nectar-producing plant with nectar containing up to 50% sugar, which additionally increases its value.
