Description
The oat variety "Dawn" is one of the best valuable oat varieties in Ukraine. It is suitable for cultivation both under intensive technology on high agrofond and under standard agronomic practices on low and medium agrofond. This variety adapts well to biotic and abiotic stress factors, exhibits resistance to diseases and pests, ensuring stable yields and high grain quality.
"Dawn" belongs to the aurea group and is characterized by a medium maturity period — from 85 to 100 days. Plant height reaches 90-130 cm, and inflorescence (panicle) length is 16-25 cm. Kernel plumpness varies from 24 to 25.7%, kernel density — 490-520 g/l, and 1000-kernel weight — 40-46 g. These indicators attest to high technological qualities of the grain, making the variety popular for various uses.
The cultivation zone for the "Dawn" variety covers the Polissia and Forest-Steppe regions. Yield reaches 6-7 tons per hectare. The variety is resistant to drought, lodging, as well as common diseases and pests. Under intensive cultivation, growth regulators such as Medax Top and Moddus are recommended to enhance productivity and grain quality. The variety was developed through hybridization of the Desniansky, Raiduzhny, and Chernihivsky varieties, followed by selection, which ensured its high agronomic characteristics.
