Description
Dioscurius — a naked barley variety registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2017. It was developed at the Verkhnyatskaya Experimental and Selection Station using interspecific hybridization and multiple individual selection. The growing period of the variety ranges from 70 to 90 days. The plant is of intermediate type with a panicle, characterized by well-formed naked grain, with a 1000-grain weight reaching 26.4 grams.
The variety exhibits high resistance to lodging, shattering, crown rust, powdery mildew, and drought, ensuring stable yields. Maximum yield reaches 6.0 tons per hectare at the recommended seeding rate of 5.0–5.5 million seeds per hectare. Due to these features, Dioscurius is attractive for agricultural production.
Dioscurius barley is widely used in bread, wheat flour, and other barley-based product production. The variety meets agronomic requirements and is recommended for cultivation in Lviv region and Poland, confirming its adaptability to different climatic conditions.
