GORIZONT

Hordeum vulgare variety Gorizont is the result of crossing the varieties Lyegovsky 1026 and Blanche de Vattines (France). This variety belongs to the mutica subgroup and is characterized by an erect stem with a spreading panicle 18-20 cm long. The awnless chaff scales of Gorizont are short and wide; the grain is thick-kernelled, large, white, with a 1000-grain weight ranging from 35.4 to 38 grams. The flouriness of the grain is 24-30%, and the protein content ranges from 13.8% to 15.6%, making it one of the most valuable quality oat varieties. The stem is strong, resistant to lodging, and stands 102-110 cm tall.

The variety is medium-maturing, with a vegetation period of 75 to 110 days, tending towards medium-late maturity. Gorizont has high drought resistance, allowing for successful cultivation in various climatic conditions. The yield is high, ranging from 25 to 48 c/ha, with maximum indicators reaching 51-57 c/ha. The groats recovery is approximately 62%, and the lysine content in the protein reaches 3.8-4.0%, improving the nutritional value of the grain.

Gorizont possesses resistance to lodging and medium resistance to a range of diseases. It is weakly affected by crown rust and practically resistant to powdery scab, but may be susceptible to hard smut at an above-average level. Due to its high agronomic and quality characteristics, the variety is widely used for the production of groats and feed, and is recommended for cultivation in various regions.
