When evaluating the "Rugby" oat variety, developed by the Institute of Agriculture of the Steppe Zone of the NAAS, we prioritize field efficiency and operational reliability. This mid-season variety has a maturity cycle of 95–110 days, allowing for precise harvesting logistics and consistent production planning.

Operational Reliability

Disease pressure is a major concern for farm managers. "Rugby" offers solid resistance to smut, significantly reducing the need for intensive fungicidal interventions. From an operator’s perspective, this means lower chemical costs and higher yields. The stalks are robust and resistant to lodging, ensuring smooth header operation during harvest and minimizing field losses.

Economic Versatility

• Animal Feed: With a protein content of 11–12%, this variety serves as an excellent nutritional base for livestock, reducing the reliance on expensive protein supplements in feed formulation.
• Processing: The grain is highly suitable for industrial processing. It cleans well and is energy-efficient during the drying phase, which lowers overall overhead costs at the grain elevator.

"Rugby" is a workhorse variety tailored for Ukrainian soil and climatic conditions. It is undemanding in terms of agrotechnical intensity, responsive to basic fertilization, and provides a reliable, high-quality output for both industrial processing and livestock needs.
