Description
The variety is characterized by its rapid maturity: greenery can be cut as early as 25-30 days after planting, while the bulbs mature approximately 70-80 days later. Bistron shallot is resistant to bolting, which allows it to be stored well until spring without losing quality. For greens, planting can be done in spring or autumn, while for bulb formation, it is best to plant the onion in early spring. The plant requires fertile soil and prefers the strip planting method with a distance of 50 cm between strips, 20 cm between rows, and 8-10 cm between bulbs in a row.
Bistron shallot is suitable for cultivation in open ground and in winter-spring turnover greenhouses. It can be forced at home, on a balcony, or in a room, making the variety versatile for different climatic conditions and cultivation methods. Green leaves are excellent for adding to salads and garnishing dishes, while the bulbs are widely used in cooking for preparing soups and main courses, as well as for canning and pickling.
