Description
The variety is characterized by high resistance to diseases such as fusarium and false powdery mildew, contributing to stable yields. Galant onion can be grown both in open ground and in greenhouses. For successful cultivation, plants require regular watering, weeding, soil loosening, and fertilization. Seeds germinate at temperatures from 3 to 5 °C, and seedlings can withstand frosts down to -3 to -5 °C at the 1-2 leaf stage.
For optimal yields, crop rotation with predecessors from the Cucurbitaceae family, such as cucumbers, zucchini, and pumpkins, as well as vegetable peas and tomatoes, is recommended. Avoid planting onions after potatoes or cabbage. The seeding rate is approximately 10 kg per hectare or 1 gram per square meter, with row spacing of 45 cm and seed depth of 2 cm. Due to its qualities and adaptability, Galant onion is an excellent choice for cultivation both on a hobby and industrial scale.
