Description
The Helios variety is distinguished by high yield, reaching an average of 321 centners per hectare, and resistance to various diseases and pests, including rots, thrips, nematodes, aphids, and stem rot. It has good winter hardiness, tolerating temperatures down to -18 °C, which allows for growing it in a two-year culture from seed onions. For successful cultivation, sowing is recommended in August-September, which ensures plants develop 4 leaves by winter and an early green harvest. Under severe frosts, crops can be covered with agrofiber or fir branches.
Helios is also suitable for early spring sowing or transplanting of seedlings grown in greenhouses. The agronomy of growing this variety is similar to traditional onion varieties, which facilitates its introduction into existing agricultural practices. Thanks to its characteristics and high productivity, the Helios variety is particularly valuable for producing early harvest and can be successfully used both for producing bulb onions and for growing greens.
