Bashkir Autumn

Early autumn variety of pear. Developed in the Bashkir Research Institute of Agriculture in 1990 from crossing the varieties Polya and Bergamot summer. Authors: R.I. Bolotina, G.A. Mansurov, Kh.N. Fazliakhmetov. Approved for cultivation in the Ural region.

Cultivated in the republics of Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Chelyabinsk, Vologda, and Kirov regions.

Medium-sized, fast-growing tree. Medium-dense, broad-pyramidal crown. Branches are compactly arranged, angled close to straight, with tips pointing upward. Bark on the trunk and main scaffold branches is smooth and light-gray. Bears fruit on ring buds, spurs, and fruiting shoots.

Medium-length, straight, round, dark-red, bare shoots. Buds are few, medium-sized, arranged at the same level as the surface. Buds are deviated, conical, with outer scales reddish-brown. Leaves are medium, broad, elliptical, short-pointed, smooth, shiny, with a concave blade, curved downward. Leaf margin finely toothed, entire. Petiole medium, thin, bare.

Flowers are medium, small-cup-shaped, white, odorless. Style of stigmas is medium, without hairs, stigma positioned at the level of anthers. Blooms at medium season.

Fruits are below average size (mass 80-92 g), elongated-pear-shaped, one-dimensional, smooth, well-formed. Skin is medium, smooth, oily, shiny. Color at harvest time is yellowish-green with a blurred brownish-red blush on the lower part of the fruit; at consumer ripeness, greenish-yellow, with a bright, blurred red blush. Numerous, medium-sized, green, clearly visible lenticels. Peduncle is long, thick, curved, oblique. Bask is small, blunt-conical, unrusting. Calyx is medium, broad, slightly ribbed. Calyx tube is long, narrow. Central cavity absent. Heart is small, bulbous. Seed chambers are closed, small. Seeds are medium-sized, pointed-egg-shaped, dark-brown.

Flesh is greenish, medium density, tender, finely-grained, juicy, slightly sour-sweet, with moderate aroma. Taste score 3.7, appearance score 4.5. Chemical composition of fruits: dry matter — 20.1%, sugars — 7.2%, titratable acids — 0.52%, ascorbic acid — 7.1 mg/100g.

Early autumn ripening (end of August — first decade of September), fruits can be stored for 40 days. Transportability and marketability of fresh fruits are medium. Universal use variety.

Self-sterile, best pollinators — Bashkir Summer, Severyanka. Begins fruiting at 6 years. Medium longevity. High and regular yields (120-230 centners/ha).

High resistance to extreme conditions. No observed infection by scab.
