Description
Winter variety selected by the Belarusian Research Institute of Fruit Growing. Obtained by sowing seeds of the freely pollinated variety 'Dobraia Luiza'. Breeders: N. I. Mikhnevich, N. G. Myalik, Yu. K. Kovalenko. Included in the State Register of Selection Achievements, approved for use in the Northwest and Central regions.
Medium-sized tree with a round, dense crown. Main branches diverge from the trunk at nearly straight angles, with branch tips directed upwards; fruiting occurs on both simple and complex spur clusters.
Shoots are curved, medium-thick, light-brown, hairy, round in cross-section, with numerous small stipules. Buds are small, bent, conical, without hairs. Leaves are small, elongated-elliptical, light green, smooth, with delicate venation, spirally twisted tips, convex, with finely toothed, wavy margins; petioles are short, medium-thick, hairless.
Flowers are large, white, with oval petals.
Fruits are medium-sized, weighing 110–120 g, with a regular broad-pear shape and medium uniformity. Skin is dull, rough, with light-brown spots; primary color at harvest is green, ripening to orange-yellow for consumer use, then to brownish-red and finally to pinkish-red (according to ripening stage). Peduncle is short, straight, obliquely positioned. Calyx is small, narrow, slightly rusty. Seed is small, elliptical. Calyx tube is narrow, cup-shaped, medium-sized. Seeds are small, brown, cup-shaped.
Flesh is white, medium density, tender, oily, juicy. Taste is slightly acidic-sweet, with a mild refreshing acidity, tasting score 4.2–4.4 points.
Fruits contain 14.5% dry matter, 9.3% sugars, 0.1% acids, 12.1 mg/100 g vitamin C.
Winter maturing variety; harvesting occurs mid-to-late September, consumption period January–February, occasionally fruits remain until March–April.
Partially self-fertile; best pollinators: 'Bere Lošitskaya', 'Maslyanistaya Lošitskaya'.
Average yield in the region: 160 centners/ha.
In the winters of 1978/79 and 1996/97, trees suffered frost damage up to 1.5 points. During epiphytotic years, the variety was affected by scab and bacterial burn at medium severity (2.0 points).
Advantages of the variety: early fruiting, high yield, prolonged fruit storage.
