Description
Autumn variety selected by VSTISP, obtained by pollinating interspecific hybrid No. 9 with pollen from southern varieties. Breeders: Yu. A. Petrov, N. V. Efimova. Widely grown in suburban gardens of Moscow and neighboring regions. Approved for the Central region.
Tree in young and fruiting age with round crown formed by numerous branches with evenly spaced buds, mostly bearing fruit.
Shoots short, medium thickness, brownish-brown. Leaves medium-sized, smooth, with slightly raised finely toothed edges. Petioles with small, narrow stipules.
Fruits below average size, egg-shaped, symmetrical, with smooth, uniformly russet surface (a variety characteristic similar to 'Bere Bosk'). Main color yellow, no covering. Peduncle long, medium thickness. Calyx small, closed over short calyx tube. Seed chambers closed, with well-formed seeds. No central cavity.
Flesh creamy, very juicy, sweet, excellent flavor. Ripening is autumnal, but fruits can be stored over winter. Fruits ripen simultaneously, but can be harvested selectively, starting with the largest.
Fruits are excellent for fresh consumption and keep well in refrigerator until January.
Fruit production begins on 7th-8th year from planting in nursery. Yields regular, medium. Winter hardiness good, comparable to average Russian varieties. Variety resistant to fungal diseases.
Advantages of the variety: high ecological resistance, excellent fruit flavor.
Disadvantages of the variety: small fruit size.
Variety valuable for home gardens and can be used in breeding for high fruit flavor.
