The potato variety DAWN is a medium-maturing table variety of Russian breeding, intended for cultivation in private plots and on dacha plots. The plant is medium to tall, intermediate type, semi-upright with medium-sized green leaves and small veins. Tubers are oval-round in shape with medium-depth eyes, have yellow skin and cream-colored flesh. The weight of marketable tubers ranges from 99 to 142 grams, and starch content is 14.7–15.9%. The color of flesh and skin, as well as good taste qualities, make this variety universal for various culinary purposes, including frying, baking, and making mashed potatoes. The yield of the DAWN variety is 189–353 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 424 centners per hectare, which meets the standards of varieties such as Ladожский and Ketский. The number of tubers per plant ranges from 6 to 12. The tuber marketability is high — 80 to 97%, and storability reaches 94%, ensuring good preservation of the harvest over a long period. The variety is characterized by good resistance to potato late blight pathogen, but is susceptible to golden potato cyst nematode. According to the breeder, the variety is moderately resistant to phytophthora, requiring certain protective measures during cultivation. The DAWN potato has excellent consumer qualities and is suitable for cultivation in the Far Eastern region. Thanks to balanced characteristics of yield, disease resistance, and high tuber quality, this variety is an optimal choice for dacha owners and small farms seeking a stable and tasty potato harvest.
