Description
Potato variety "Krasavchik" is a medium-early table variety developed by breeders of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VNIIS of Potato Growing named after A. G. Lorkh" through crossing lines "Gannibal" and "Peresvet". This variety is recommended for cultivation in the Central Chernozem region, where it adapts well to diverse agroclimatic conditions. The plant is of medium height, semi-erect, with medium-sized leaves and slightly wavy margins. Tubers are oval-shaped with small eyes, smooth red skin, and creamy flesh, with marketable tuber weight ranging from 91 to 166 grams.
"Krasavchik" is characterized by high yield, averaging 169-201 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 284 centners per hectare. The tuber marketability is 85-98%, and storability reaches 97%, indicating good product preservation during storage. Starch content in the flesh ranges from 12.4-17.8%, making this variety particularly suitable for processing into dry mash and "Fry" potatoes. Additionally, the variety is suitable for mechanical harvesting, simplifying agricultural operations.
The variety exhibits resistance to several diseases, including potato cancer, crinkly mosaic, and late blight. However, it is susceptible to golden potato cyst nematode. The taste of the tubers is rated as good to excellent, making "Krasavchik" attractive both to consumers and processors. Due to its characteristics, this variety is a reliable choice for cultivating high-quality and high-yield potatoes in the Central Chernozem region.
