Description
Kristel is an early-maturing potato variety of German selection, intended for table use. The plant is of medium height with semi-erect or spreading form, has large green leaves and a medium-sized flower with absent or very weak anthocyanin coloration. Tubers are oval-round in shape with small or medium-depth eyes, yellow skin, and dark-yellow flesh. The marketable tuber mass ranges from 94 to 138 grams, and the number of tubers per plant reaches 8-12. Starch content varies from 11.2% to 14.7%, making this variety versatile for various cooking methods, including frying, baking, and boiling.
The Kristel variety is characterized by high yield, ranging from 192 to 362 centners per hectare, with maximum yields up to 617 centners. The first harvest can be obtained as early as day 45 after emergence, enabling early harvest. Tubers’ marketability ranges from 76-98%, and storability reaches 94%, ensuring good storage and minimal losses during transport. A strong root system contributes to efficient water uptake from the soil, while wide row spacing helps protect plants from drying out.
Kristel exhibits resistance to several diseases, including potato cancer, golden potato cyst nematode, striped mosaic, and common scab. However, the variety is susceptible to late blight of foliage and tubers. Due to its resistance to mechanical damage during harvesting and good storability, this variety is a reliable choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions.
