Description
Potato variety Shah is a new mid-early variety developed by breeders of the Ural Agricultural Research Center. This variety is characterized by high yield and strong resistance to various diseases and pests, including resistance to potato late blight pathogen and golden potato cyst nematode. In addition, Shah is resistant to hot growing conditions, making it suitable for regions of Central Russia, Siberia, the Urals, and the Far East.
Shah variety plants are tall, intermediate type with semi-upright growth. Leaves are large, open, and green, with medium-sized flowers lacking or weakly anthocyanin-colored inner sides. Tubers have round-oval shape with medium-depth eyes, yellow skin, and creamy flesh. The weight of one tuber ranges from 100 to 236 grams, ensuring high product marketability. Starch content in tubers ranges from 13.6% to 17.6%, contributing to good taste and excellent culinary qualities.
The yield of Shah variety reaches 650 centners per hectare, significantly exceeding the yields of standard varieties such as Nevsky. Tubers' marketability is within 82-88%, and storability reaches 94-95%, ensuring long-term storage without quality loss. The variety is moderately susceptible to phytophthora on foliage and tubers, but overall possesses high resistance to major phytopathogens, making it a reliable choice for farmers and gardeners.
