Description
The "Yavir" potato variety is a mid-ripening table variety developed by the Institute of Potato Breeding of UAAN and registered in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine. This Ukrainian variety is distinguished by its high flavor quality and yellow flesh, making it ideal for preparing delicate yellow-hued mashed potatoes. Thanks to its high starch content (16.0–18.0%) and dry matter, "Yavir" has excellent culinary properties and is suitable for various dishes.
The "Yavir" potato variety is highly resistant to a range of diseases, including potato cancer, phytophthora, viral diseases, wet bacterial rot, and late blight. It also shows relative resistance to stem nematodes, contributing to stable yields and reduced losses during cultivation. The variety yields 400–600 centners per hectare, with 10–12 tubers per plant, ensuring good production output.
The variety is adapted for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine, including Polissia, forest-steppe, and steppe regions, as well as different soil types. "Yavir" is well-suited for mechanized handling and has high storage capacity, making it convenient for commercial cultivation and long-term storage without quality loss.
