Description
The Zamiyir potato variety is a mid-early table variety intended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region. The plant is of medium height, stem type, with a semi-erect form. Leaves are of medium size, intermediate type, green in color, and the flower bud is also of medium size with no or very weak anthocyanin pigmentation on the inner side.
The Zamiyir potato tubers are oval-round in shape with small eyes, covered with yellow skin, and the flesh has a creamy hue. The mass of marketable tubers ranges from 94 to 220 grams. The starch content in the tubers is within 13.9–15.4%, ensuring good taste. The yield of the variety is 75%, and storability reaches 93%, indicating high tuber preservation during storage.
The variety is distinguished by high yield: marketable yield ranges from 143 to 250 centners per hectare, and maximum yield can reach 290 centners per hectare, significantly exceeding the performance of some standard varieties. Zamiyir potato is resistant to potato cancer pathogen and golden potato cyst nematode, as well as resistant to striped mosaic. However, according to the All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology, the variety is susceptible to late blight on foliage and moderately susceptible on tubers. These characteristics make the variety attractive for cultivation in the region under appropriate agronomic requirements.
