Description
Red radish variety Xenia is an early-maturing and high-yielding type developed by the Kharkiv Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The period from seedling emergence to technical maturity is 24-25 days, allowing the first harvest to be obtained as early as 20-25 days after sowing. This variety is characterized by compact size and uniform oval-shaped roots, with length reaching 6-8 centimeters, diameter 2.5-3.5 centimeters, and weight 11-14 grams. The roots are colored pink-red, have a small convex head, and a conical tip with slight tapering. The flesh is white, dense, tender, and has a mild, slightly spicy taste, making radish Xenia an excellent ingredient for fresh salads and other dishes.
Plants form a upright rosette of 7-10 green, elliptical-shaped leaves with dense, stiff hairs. The variety is resistant to vascular bacteriosis, enhancing its reliability during cultivation. Yield per square meter is approximately 0.3-0.4 kilograms of quality radish, with a marketability of 85-89%, and a single harvest can yield 70-100% of the total crop. Due to its low maintenance and adaptability, variety Xenia is suitable for cultivation in all regions of Ukraine, both in open ground, greenhouses, or under plastic coverings.
Radish Xenia is distinguished by its stable yield and attractive appearance, making it popular among gardeners and farmers. Fast seed germination and universal usability allow efficient cultivation of this variety under various climatic conditions. High fruit quality, disease resistance, and pleasant taste make radish Xenia an excellent choice for those who appreciate early and flavorful vegetables.
