Description
Genetic studies of the BOYARIN variety showed that quantitative traits of the grain, such as length, width, and 1000-grain mass, are determined by several pairs of genes. In particular, the grain length depends on 1-3 pairs of genes, the width is determined by one pair, and the 1000-grain mass is determined by 2-3 pairs of genes. These data indicate complex inheritance and the possibility of breeding work to improve these characteristics.
The BOYARIN variety was developed by a group of authors, including Kostylev Pavel Ivanovich, Partfenyuk Anatoly Alekseevich, Stepovoi Vladimir Ivanovich, Bakhmazhki Sergey Semenovich, and Galiuchenko Viktor Fedorovich. Thanks to its agronomic and quality characteristics, this variety is a reliable choice for cultivation in the North Caucasus region.
