SC 7

Rootstock SC‑7 is a dwarf rootstock included in the State Register since 2005. It is characterized by a wide canopy with medium vigor and a powerful fibrous root system that develops a multi-layered structure with good mounding. Thanks to the abundant root development, the rootstock provides drought and heat resistance, surpassing these parameters compared to the traditional M9.

In the orchard, trees on SC‑7 show growth vigor about 10–15% lower than M9, but their root system remains more robust. This leads to upright plant stance and nearly no suckers in the soil, reducing the need for constant supports. Trees fruit quickly: yield of plantings is 25–30% higher compared to M9, and standard layers reach up to 240k pcs./ha.

The rootstock is easily propagated both in the mother block and in the orchard using horizontal layers or artificial mist with green cuttings. It is compatible with all region-adapted apple varieties and suitable for high-density orchards with planting density of 1500–2000 trees per hectare. Thanks to early fruiting and regular, abundant yield, rootstock SC‑7 is a highly adaptive material for constructing modern commercial apple orchards.
