Rosa 'Taras' is the result of crossing the 'Vitaminnyi VNIi' variety with the rugose rose '1–6–3', obtained in the Moscow region under the guidance of V.D. Strelets. The variety was accepted for state testing in 1995 and has since been widely used due to its high winter hardiness, disease resistance, and pest resistance.
'Taras' bushes are of medium height, weakly spreading, with curved light-green canes. Thorns are located along the entire length of the cane; leaves are of medium size, glossy, composed of 5–7 leaflets; leaf serrations are blunt or short. Flowers are of medium size with a pink tint.
Fruits are large, orange in color, elongated in shape, and weigh about 3 g. They have an acid-sweet taste, refreshing aroma, and contain a high level of vitamin C – up to 2200 mg% of the daily norm. The variety has high yield (about 32 t/ha), and the ripening period is early, making it attractive for both commercial cultivation and personal consumption.
