Description
Rye variety Derzhavinskaya 29 is a perennial fodder crop intended for use in pastures, growing green mass, and producing fodder products such as silage, pellets, and hay flour. This variety boasts high fodder value exceeding annual rye varieties, thanks to 13.7% protein and 2.5% lysine content in the grain. Perennial rye features a powerful root system, ensuring high drought resistance and winter hardiness, allowing crops to be used for up to 3-4 consecutive years.
The Derzhavinskaya 29 variety has a medium maturity period, enabling its use in the green conveyor system, as cutting ripeness occurs almost simultaneously with winter wheat. Rye is sown slightly earlier than wheat, and harvesting for green fodder or silage happens 8–10 days earlier, ensuring early acquisition of quality feed. The optimal time for using crops for feed is at the booting stage, approximately 6–8 days after reaching cutting ripeness.
The variety seeds are small; the sowing rate is 70–100 kg per hectare. Thanks to its frost resistance and ability for perennial use, Derzhavinskaya 29 rye is a reliable and efficient choice for feeding animals in regions with a moderate climate, ensuring stable quality and quantity of green mass over several years.
