Description
Hippophae rhamnoides 'Moscow Pineapple' is a medium-ripening variety, typically maturing between August 15 and 20. Bushes reach heights up to 3 m and have a compact, thornless crown, facilitating care and fruit harvesting. Shoots are light brown, while leaves are smooth, light green, and glossy.
Fruits of this variety are round, dark orange with a slight reddish tint at the top. The mass of one fruit is approximately 0.5 g, and the flesh is covered by a thin, tender skin that gives the berries juiciness and an aroma reminiscent of pineapple. Inside, the berries are rich in vitamins C, E, A, B complex, minerals (potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc), and antioxidants – carotenes and flavonoids.
The yield of the variety reaches approximately 15 kg per bush. Hippophae rhamnoides 'Moscow Pineapple' is characterized by high frost resistance (withstands temperatures down to -10 °C) and resistance to diseases, such as mold and fungal infections, as well as pests – mites, spider mites, and moths. Thanks to these properties, the plant is easily cultivated in sunny places with fertile, drained soil, with regular watering and fertilization in spring and autumn.
Fruits are widely used in the food industry: juices, berry drinks, jams, jellies, marshmallows, and compotes are made from them. In cosmetology, berries are used for the production of oils, creams, masks, and shampoos due to their nourishing properties. Medically, they contribute to strengthening immunity, improving digestion, and protection against infections and cardiovascular diseases.
