Technical Profile of the Variety

"Bordo Kharkivskyi" is the result of breeding work by the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAAS. The variety has undergone long-term adaptation to the climatic zones of Ukraine, making its production yield highly predictable. The primary engineering focus here is on the internal structure of the root: breeders have achieved complete uniformity of the pulp.

Root Architecture

• Lack of radial zoning: In cross-section, there are no pronounced whitish rings, which are characteristic of many table beet varieties. The pulp texture is dense, dark red in color, with high dry matter and sugar content.
• Geometry: The shape is round, which is the optimal parameter for mechanized harvesting and compact storage. A uniform shape minimizes losses during primary processing.
• Surface: The skin is smooth, without roughness, which reduces the risk of damage during transportation.

Practical Value

This selection is oriented toward stable yields even under stressful conditions. The variety is resistant to temperature fluctuations during the growing season. The absence of zoning on the cross-section makes this product highly demanded both in the processing industry (juice production, canning) and in the fresh market, where visual purity is a key quality factor. Due to the dense structure, the roots exhibit excellent storability in specialized storage facilities.
