Description
Rio Grande tomato fruits have an oval, plum-like shape and a deep red color. The average weight of one fruit varies from 100 to 130 grams. The fruits are dense, meaty, with a firm skin that prevents cracking and ensures excellent transportability without loss of appearance. The taste is sweet with a slight acidity, sugar content (Brix) is 5-5.5%. Tomatoes contain a small number of seeds and are suitable for both fresh consumption and canning or processing.
The Rio Grande variety requires quality watering and feeding for stable fruiting throughout the season. Fruits can ripen both on the plant and after harvest, allowing for an extended harvest period. When stored in specially prepared rooms at a temperature not exceeding +10 degrees, tomatoes maintain their quality for 2-3 months. The yield of this variety reaches 80-100 tons per hectare, making it profitable for farmers and commercial cultivation.
