Vesta

Tomato Vesta is an early-maturing variety intended for cultivation in open ground on garden plots and small farms. The plant is determinate, semi-spreading, medium-leafed, and grows to a height of 50–70 cm. Leaves are light green, medium-sized, and inflorescences are simple, with the first one forming above the 6th–7th leaf. Fruits are flat-round, slightly ribbed, with a jointed peduncle, greenish in immature stage and red when ripe. Fruit weight varies from 90 to 160 g, depending on description, with more than four locules. Flavor qualities are good; fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, pickling, and home cooking.

The hybrid exhibits high fruit-set intensity and resistance to a number of diseases, including septoria, tobacco mosaic virus races 0–2, and bacterial spot races 1–3. Pruning and staking are recommended for optimal growth. Seeds germinate at 25–28°C within approximately 10 days, and only pre-germinated seeds should be used. Planting density is 4–5 plants per square meter.

The Vesta variety has stable and sufficiently high yields: in open ground, it reaches 2.7–6 kg per square meter, and in protected ground, it may reach up to 10 kg per square meter. Fruits are characterized by large size, uniformity, and synchronized ripening, making the variety attractive to gardeners and farmers. Fruit wall thickness is 6–7 mm, ensuring good density and excellent storage and transport qualities.
